Trieste, Italy (January 2019)

I’d visited Italy twice in the past but both times I went to Rome. This was my first trip to Eastern Italy and I’d never even heard of Trieste until I saw there was a 26 euro roundtrip Ryanair flight to the city. So I took a long weekend solo trip to what I now know as the WINDIEST city in existence. The trees were bent, I could barely keep my beret on, it was uncomfortable to even just walk around and the whole time I was marvelling at how much of a nuisance it was. I know it was January and it’s not a big city, but it was remarkably dead. I did eat a decent meal though, and on my last day I stopped in at the Trieste Film Festival and watched an interesting documentary. Also, all the elderly folk were exceptionally well dressed. Cheap flight but in hindsight, I wouldn’t have minded just staying in bed at home
